Human Resource Strategy
Upon successful completion of the module, the student should be able to:
- Appreciate and critically reflect on the strategic importance of Human Resource Management for the organization
- Analyse and evaluate the process and practices for obtaining suitable employees
- Design performance management systems
- Demonstrate an ability to use effectively the principles and processes for monitoring and rewarding employees
- Evaluate the systematic approach to training and understand the importance of Human Resource Development
Cross-Cultural Management
This module is designed for students who wish to prepare for working overseas or for working with people from other cultures. The content includes the importance of understanding one's own culture, cultural differences to expect in various countries, cross-cultural communication and management skills, the challenges of multinational organizations, and the subjective meaning of a cross-cultural experience for expatriates. Students will be able to:
- Compare and contrast the various business practices that take place in different countries
- Develop a more culturally sensitive approach to business interaction
- Demonstrate a capacity to make use of crosscultural skills so that they can be more effective when dealing with and managing people from other cultures
- Acquire a critical appreciation of what it's like to be an expatriate
Organizational Development and Change
Upon successful completion of the module, the student should be able to:
- Demonstrate competence of developing successful strategies and techniques to implement organisational change
- Assess the suitability of a range of change methods that contribute to the achievement of performance enhancement
- Differentiate between organisational and corporate culture and their importance for the management of change
- Critically evaluate and apply strategies aiming at furthering individual and collective learning
- Implement change on the individual, group, and organisational level through the use of suitable methods, such as force-field analysis model.
Industrial Relations & Legal Aspects in HR
This course is divided in two parts: The first part is about Industrial Relations, and its main aim is to provide an extensive overview of industrial relations in Greece, Europe and internationally. An understanding of the changes taking place over the years in employee relations and participation in the workplace. The types and reasons for industrial disputes will be explored as well as types of collective bargaining and negotiation skills and strategies. The second part of the course has been designed to offer participants the required knowledge on the legislative framework, as this has been shaped by the latest changes in the labour matters, with particular emphasis on
- rights and obligations of the employers and employees; labour contracts
- working time
- leaves
- security and health within the working environment
- dismissals
- movement of employees
The aim of the course is to equip participants with the knowledge of the legal framework governing employment and labour relations on a local and international level.
